Imagination Playground
Imagination Playground is based around the concept of "free play," a simple but powerful idea that children should initiate and direct their own play, and should be able to manipulate their own environment. With this in mind, David Rockwell and his team developed the first Imagination Playground in collaboration with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation. In this playground, natural materials and everyday objects combine with building blocks of various shapes and sizes to encourage many types of creative and physical play. These online training sessions build on this concept of "free play" and our role as adults to enable and foster child-directed play.
Promoting Play
Have you seen first-hand the power of play? Are you willing to champion the cause of play? Perhaps you plan on speaking to the local PTA, City Council or community group about the need for recess, playgrounds or community recreation times. Join these online trainings as we'll equip you with the tools needed for powerful, yet playful advocacy!
